Bellevue Helps Children Get Ready for School Camilla Robinson and her children got in a line of nearly 370 people early on Saturday morning, August 9, at Impact Ministry Center in Frayser. Inside the Ministry Center, 99 volunteers from Bellevue Baptist Church were distributing backpacks full of school supplies that Camilla's children needed for the upcoming school year. "It's hard for the people in these areas to make ends meet with all their financial responsibilities and with the economy the way it is," said Tom Baugh, Director of Impact Ministry Center. "With them not having to spend money on school supplies, it allows them to pay other bills and even to buy food. So many families expressed their deep appreciation for these gifts." From colored pencils to calculators, school supplies were donated by members of Bellevue Baptist Church to help children from lower income families get ready for the school year. Church members loaded the supplies into backpacks and distributed them to children at Impact Ministry Center and at Iglesia Bella Vista, Bellevue's Hispanic church plant. A total of 701 children received the school supplies between the two locations. The children and their families were taken in groups of 20 to hear a Gospel presentation, then they moved to the next room to receive their backpacks. At least 265 people prayed to receive Jesus as their Savior as a result of the ministry. After Bellevue's Back-to-School Giveaway, hundreds of Memphis children, including the Robinson children, have the supplies they need to dive in to a successful school year. Bellevue Baptist Church is located on Appling Road at I-40 in Cordova.
