A family. That’s Bellevue. And at the heart of every family is love. Our love for the Lord. And for each other. It brings us together. Makes the good times sweeter. And helps us through the tough ones.
At Bellevue, you’ll find that being a part of a family is a great feeling. There’s the comfort of knowing that you’re surrounded by people who love you, people who care for you. And that’s what Bellevue’s Pastoral Care ministries are all about. Our Pastoral Care ministries are designed to minister to your needs at every stage of life.
Biblical Guidance Ministry
Bellevue Baptist Church provides Bible-based counseling for both members and non-members as part of its ministry to the church and local community. Both male and female counselors are available for an initial assessment and short-term Biblical counseling at no charge.
The Biblical Guidance Ministry strives to provide a Biblical approach to problem solving and relationship resolution during all counseling. The goal is that individuals, couples, and families might grow in their relationships with the Lord and learn to apply Biblical principles in their everyday walk and in interaction with others. The ultimate goal is Christ-likeness.
Care Groups
Bellevue’s Care Groups offer support and guidance to those facing life crises and daily challenges. Over 20 different groups are offered each semester to address many of the issues that face individuals, couples, and families.
There is no fee to attend. Some groups have optional curriculum materials available for purchase. Childcare is provided for groups that meet on Wednesday evenings.
You do not have to be a Bellevue member to attend. For more information about Care Groups, call (901)347-5830.
Intercessory Prayer Ministry
Lifting up the special needs of our families is an important part of Bellevue's Intercessory Prayer Ministry. If you have a need for which you would like our Intercessory Prayer Ministry to intercede, you may make that request by calling (901) 347-5885 twenty-four hours a day.
Hospital Ministry
The Pastoral Care staff extends compassionate ministry and prayer to those who are hospitalized through personal visitation in the area's hospitals. Recent changes in the law have limited the information hospitals can give to those requesting information about patients, so it is necessary to contact the Pastoral Care office to report any admissions or surgical procedures. You may call the office at (901) 347-5680 during regular office hours, or (901) 347-LOVE (5683) when church offices are closed. Visits are normally made within twenty-four hours of the notification, but quicker response is offered if in an emergency.
Car Care Ministry
Recognizing that dependable transportation is an essential need in today's world, Bellevue's Car Care Ministry provides free, basic preventative maintenance to Bellevue members who are: widows, single mothers with dependant children, ladies age 60 and better who are single, and those whose military husbands are deployed. For more information, please call (901) 347-5460.
Benevolence Ministry
Extraordinary circumstances occasionally create special financial needs. The Benevolence Ministry seeks to provide financial assistance and/or Biblically-based guidance for members to help them in a time of special need. You may call (901) 347-5759 for answers to questions you may have about making a request for assistance.
Homebound Ministry
The Pastoral Care staff extends personal ministry by regularly visiting those members who are confined to home or in facilities such as nursing homes and assisted living. In addition to the Pastoral Care staff, homebound ministry volunteers maintain regular contact with these members through monthly visits, cards, and phone calls. If you would like to participate as a homebound ministry volunteer, call (901) 347-5765 to learn how you can become a part of this rewarding ministry.
Hospice Ministry
When members are diagnosed with a terminal illness and are placed in Hospice care, Bellevue works with Hospice personnel to provide prayerful, compassionate, and supportive ministry to both the terminally ill member and their family through the Pastoral Care office. Call (901) 347-5680 to let the Pastoral Care office know when someone has been placed in Hospice care.
Widows Ministry
The Bible clearly communicates God's concern for the widow, and instructs us to take special interest in extending His love and concern for them. The Pastoral Care staff offers help at the time of loss through prayer and assistance with planning the funeral services. Widows Ministry volunteers deliver a special packet to the new widow a few weeks after the loss, and maintain contact with the bereaved for a period of time. The packet contains grief material and identifies various sources of help available at Bellevue. One of Bellevue's ministers maintains personal contact with the bereaved for the first year after the loss, and also hosts a quarterly luncheon for two years after the loss for mutual encouragement and support. A thirteen week video series called GRIEFSHARE is offered through Biblical Guidance in a support group format. For more information or to volunteer in the Widows Ministry, call (901) 347-5765.
Bereavement Ministry
Families share their grief at the passing away of a loved one. The Bellevue family is no exception. We endeavor to wrap our caring arms of faith and comfort around families who have suffered loss. When we are made aware of a loss, one of the Pastoral Care staff immediately attempts to contact a family member to express our condolences in the loss, to pray for the family, and to offer any assistance that the family may request. In addition, the Pastoral Care office notifies Life Groups where the deceased or family members of the deceased are enrolled so that those classes can offer special ministry to the family. To notify the Pastoral Care office of a death, call (901) 347-5680 during office hours or (901) 347-LOVE (5683) when the offices are closed.
