For the past sixteen years, Peggy has poured herself into the Life Group she teaches. She brings her previous experience as a biblical counselor for women and her deep desire to study God’s Word into the room every Sunday as she teaches from a heart that overflows with love for her Savior. Peggy is married to Webb, the Next Steps Minister at Bellevue. In her free time, she loves to garden, read, cook, and journal.
“Welcome” is the greeting you will hear when you come to our Life Group. Age is not a factor in our class because we are united by our desire to be transformed into the likeness of Christ. When you come, you will find a loving group of women, a teacher who shares a fresh Word from God, and a spirit of joy permeating the room. So, whatever your age, join us this Sunday. Once you come, you won’t want to leave!
A former missionary to China, Suzanne Lindsey has a heart for missions and ministry. After serving in the Bellevue Singles’ department for many years, she began teaching this Life Group in 2007. She is passionate about God’s Word and encourages others to go after God with that same level of intentionality.
Come join our Life Group as we delve into God’s Word and apply what we learn to our lives. The wisdom God has provided through His Word is available to all, but is possessed only by those who diligently seek it. We are a group of women in our 50’s who are seeking God with all our heart. Gari Nywening and her husband, Steve, own a roofing supply company. When she is not working, you will find her either outdoors or curled up reading a book. She has been teaching since 2009 and loves to dig deep into God’s Word as she prepares her lessons.
Our class is a praying class. We stand firmly on God’s promise, “The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much” (James 5:16). Join us as we study God’s Word, pray for each other, and serve out in our community. We would love to see you this Sunday!
Marilyn Satterfield/Lucy Ellis
A widow, Marilyn has two children and eight grandchildren. She has studied God’s Word extensively for more than three decades and loves to share what she has learned with others. In her spare time, Marilyn works out, gardens, participates in Bellevue’s Prayer Ministry, and volunteers in the nursery.
Lucy Ellis is a mother and grandmother who finds great joy in spending time with her family. She and Marilyn have been teaching this class together for more than five years and she looks forward to being with the women in her class every Sunday. During the week, you will find her at Bluff City Jaguar and Land Rover where she has worked for a number of years.
The size of our Life Group, known as the Hope Class, lends itself to great discussion and application of God’s Word. We are a loving class made up of married, widowed, and divorced women who enjoy fellowshipping with and praying for each other. We also love to serve and most of our class members are involved in other ministries within the church (i.e. nursery, prayer, Camp Outrageous, Singing Christmas Tree, Bellevue Loves Memphis, Missions Ministry, etc.). Ten years ago, Lupe moved to the United States from Mexico and settled in Memphis. A single mother of two, she is well acquainted with the struggles unique to Hispanic women and loves sharing the truths from God’s Word in a vibrant and relevant way. The daughter of a church planter, Lupe has been teaching the Bible since she was twelve years old. She works for the Shelby County Government in the Crisis and Crime department as an advocate for those in need.
Are you looking for a place to connect with other Hispanic single moms? In our Life Group you will build relationships that will last a lifetime, grow spiritually as you study God’s Word, and have opportunities to minister God’s love to others. A single mother, Mimi homeschools her son, mentors her daughter, and sells real estate. She understands firsthand the demands of being a single mother and encourages the women in her class by modeling total dependence upon God for every need. She loves to share the grace, freedom, and love that can be found through obedience to God’s Word. Captured by the greatest love story ever written, she loves to study the Bible and impart the life truths that have transformed her own life with others.
Intimacy with God and each other is at the core of our Life Group. As single mothers, we have discovered the significance of belonging to a small group where we can connect relationally and grow spiritually. We minister to each other through believing, intercessory prayer and hold each other accountable in our walk with the Lord. Won’t you join us on our life journey with the Lord? A native Memphian, Jennifer is passionate about God’s Word and compassionate to the women she teaches in her Life Group, a class she began teaching in 2006. As Jen often says, “there is no love like His love” and she encourages others to experience that love firsthand. She serves as the Executive Director of Confidential Care for Women, a ministry that assists women with unplanned pregnancies. Jen and her husband, John, have four children. During her free time, she enjoys sewing, crafting, reading, pool/beach time, and spending time with God.
Our multigenerational Life Group utilizes both a teaching and discussion format as we apply biblical truth to the challenges we face in life. In addition, we have a designated time each week to fellowship with each other so that we can develop “iron sharpening” relationships that build each other up. Please visit our class this Sunday and connect with other women who, just like you, want to be challenged in their walk with the Lord.

Irene is an encourager, a disciple maker, and a teacher. A widow now, she and her husband, Jesse raised a blended family of seven children. Irene loves to spend time with her 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. At Bellevue, Irene sings in the choir, teaches her Life Group, leads a discipleship group, and is involved in the prayer ministry.
We are a group of women of all ages who “Love God, Love People, Share Jesus, and Make Disciples.” Our Life Group provides opportunities for spiritual growth both through our Sunday morning class, which utilizes a discussion format, and weekday discipleship groups. We are passionate about serving out in our community; many of our members regularly serve out at Bellevue Frayser. We hope you will visit our Life Group soon! We would love to get to know you!
Once a single mom herself, Suzan is celebrating 25 years of marriage to Harb Watson this year. Together, they have 4 children and 5 (soon to be 6) grandchildren. She is the Director of Revenue Management at Sysco Food Services where she has worked for 35 years. When it comes to single moms, Suzan loves loud. In addition to teaching a Life Group, she seeks to be a reservoir of hope and encouragement to single mothers through The Source, a ministry at Bellevue just for them.
Life is not meant to be lived alone. Our Life Group is designed to encourage, disciple, and minister to single mothers through Bible study, fellowship, and prayer. Join us as we learn to apply biblical teaching to our everyday lives and build relationships that will strengthen our walk with the Lord.
Pam Harrison knows what it means to walk through difficulty and heartbreak. She uses the life lessons God has taught her to minister to women, many who share a similar journey. An encourager, she teaches God’s Word with passion and compassion. Pam is a nurse at St. Jude Children’s Hospital, where she also has many ministry opportunities. She loves God’s Word and studies it with an urgency and resolute desire to share what she learns.
Our Life Group is named Restorers for a reason. As women in our 50’s and 60’s, we know first hand the power of God to heal and restore broken lives. Unashamed, we declare the resounding promise that God will restore “the years the locust has eaten” (Joel 2:25) and encourage each other as we hold fast and believe. Our class utilizes large group lecture as well as small group discussion. We love to fellowship with each other, have a vibrant small group structure, and serve out in our community regularly. A member of Bellevue for over 30 years, Pat Caldwell is an energetic, inspiring teacher who creatively shares God’s Word from a heart captivated by His love. Following the Lord’s leading, she started this Life Group two years ago for a diverse group of multi-cultural, multi-generational women. Since the first Sunday she met with eight ladies, the class has grown and now averages over 30 women every Sunday. Pat and her husband, John, have two daughters and six grandchildren.
Our Life Group is a place where women from different backgrounds “do life” together. We have monthly fellowships, small group discussion, and large group teaching. We believe in fervent prayer and are finding freedom as God transforms our minds through the life-giving power of His Word. Join us as we learn to apply biblical truth to our everyday lives and grow in our relationship with the Lord “that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith” (Romans 1:12). A teacher at heart, Beverly Black taught high school seniors in the Memphis City School system for 29 years. In 1989, she began teaching her Life Group at Bellevue. Beverly loves God’s Word and diligently seeks Him as she leads her class. She is a local artist and you will see her paintings displayed at art shows throughout the Mid-South.
Our diverse Life Group is a place where you can connect with a small group and build relationships while you grow deeper in your relationship with the Lord. We have lots of discussion time and questions are always welcome. Won’t you join us this Sunday?
Gail James is a retired CPA who has been teaching this Life Group since 2006. Under her teaching you will benefit from sitting at the feet of a diligent student of God’s Word. In addition to her Sunday Life Group, she teaches two weekday Bible studies in her home. She is an encourager and in her spare time, she makes greeting cards for other people.

Cindy Matz/Debra Moody
Cindy Matz is a certified Precept Bible Study teacher and has been teaching since Precept since 1990. She and her husband, Randy, have two children and two grandchildren. They own a small business, and when they are not working, you will find them loving on their grandchildren.
Debra Moody is the Assistant Teacher for this Life Group. Married to Terry, she is the State Representative for District 81 so she spends a lot of time during the week traveling between Covington and Nashville. She and her husband, Terry, have four adult children.
Utilizing the Precept format, Cindy and Debra desire to mentor the younger women and teach them the importance of studying God’s Word in depth through inductive Bible study. Won’t you join us as we study and apply God’s Word to our lives?
Ruth Ann VanderSteeg
Ruth Ann loves to teach women the Word of God and help them realize the riches and blessings that come through obedience to Him. Her ongoing desire is model what it means to love God, love people, share Jesus, and make disciples and see the women in her class embrace those truths as well. She and her husband, Wayne, have five children and ten grandchildren.
Our Life Group is like a family; and just like in every family, there is always room for more. Our class studies God’s Word together, we pray for each other, and we love to get together to fellowship. Please join us this Sunday morning; we have a seat waiting for you!
