Biblical Truth

Jesus never sinned

Theme

The life of Jesus

Verse

“For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16–17

Talking Points

Expand your summer adventures to the unique Memphis creation of the Crystal Shrine Grotto. Discover the man-made cave and marvel at its stalagmites and stalactites. Journey through the life of Jesus as you walk past 10 scenes of Gospel stories. Talk through the various scenes and see what your kids can identify by themselves. Highlight that in all of Jesus’ life, He never once sinned. Explain how Jesus did something we could never do by living a perfect life. Clarify that He was able to do this because He was both fully man and fully God. Acknowledge that Jesus left paradise in Heaven because He loved us. Celebrate that when we die, we can be confident that we will live in Heaven with God because of the perfect life Jesus sacrificed for us.

Discussion Question(s):

  • Which scene of Jesus’ life did you like best? (Answers may vary.)
  • What made Jesus different than just a good man? (He was perfect. He was fully God and fully man.)
  • Why does it matter to us that Jesus lived a perfect life? (After living a perfect life, He died on the cross—a sacrifice for our sins. We would never be able to do this for ourselves. Now, we can have a relationship with God and an eternity in Heaven.)

Missions Tie-In

Throughout your time at Crystal Shrine Grotto today, you saw many drawings of Jesus’ life. He lived on Earth just like you do. He had family and friends with whom He talked, laughed, and cried. Today, we refer to His closest friends and followers as the 12 disciples. These men traveled with Jesus and learned from Him as He ministered to the crowds. They were able to see first-hand that Jesus lived a perfect life. He never once sinned, proving to the disciples that He truly was the Son of God.

These 12 men knew how important it was to tell other people about Jesus, and we can follow that same model today by sharing the Gospel with those around us! We are all called to be disciples and make disciples. When Jesus ascended back into Heaven, He left us with some instructions in Matthew 28:19–20. Read this verse with your family and talk about how you can start making disciples!

Tips

Have your kids create a biblically-based art piece; encourage them to design their own scenes. See if they can recreate one of the scenes from the Crystal Shrine Grotto with their Legos or other craft items they already have at home. Challenge them to make it 3D and create a display area in your home to highlight the importance of Bible stories.
