Faith Talk:

Our inflated pride or our insecurity in our weaknesses can keep us from following God’s wonderful plan for our lives. Either we don’t recognize our need for God’s involvement because of our self-sufficiency or we don’t see how God could use our insecurities or limitations for His glory. Use this fun meal activity to address either error in thinking.

Bring the family together to create individual pizzas. Provide a variety of options, but let each person’s creativity, tastes, and preferences guide their pizza creation. Every pizza will be unique and will satisfy the chef’s wishes and desires.

For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb.

Psalm 139:13

Have fun with your creations! Encourage theme pizzas (all meat or all cheese) or works of art (make a face with the ingredients). Discuss your food preferences and differences in tastes. Point out creativity and celebrate the differences in each pizza. As the pizzas cook, discuss the valuable differences in each family member. Highlight various strengths, talents, and abilities, emphasizing character traits and talents. Just as your family has different hair and eye colors, you also have different passions and gifts.

Each family member should begin with their own index card with their name written at the top. Consider one strength or skill of your own that you recognize in yourself and write it on the card under your name. Then pass your card to your right. Similarly, write at least one positive trait for the person named on the card. Once complete, pass the card to the right. Continue until your card has made it back to you.

Read Psalm 139:13–14 together. What does the Bible mean when it describes how you were ‘knit together’ and how you are ‘fearfully and wonderfully made’? Celebrate the qualities you admire and respect in each other. As your child matures, choose to affirm character development for physical traits.

Pray as a family and thank God for each family member’s unique design: We thank you, Lord, for creating each one of us special and unique. Help us use the gifts and talents You have given us for Your glory. In Jesus Name we pray, Amen.
