Interruptions Becoming Opportunities

Summer 2020 looks seemingly nothing like we originally imagined. Vacations have become staycations, summer camps have become various activities at home, and plans in general have changed for everyone. With our open calendars, we all have the decision to make–”How will I spend the next two months?”

What if God is calling you to spend your summer Serving Out with Bellevue? As part of Bellevue Loves Memphis, we will offer a variety of daily, weekly, and monthly opportunities. Instead of having to leave town this summer, many of these service opportunities will be with our Serve Out Pathway Partners in Memphis, allowing us to serve and love our neighbors right here in our city.

“As we were thinking of how COVID-19 has impacted everyone’s summer, we knew vacations and camps were cancelled, plans were significantly changed, and people would have more freedom during their summer,” said Ben Taylor, Missions Pastor. “We had this thought, ‚ÄòWhat if God is wanting to use these interruptions to create the opportunity for us to serve our city together? What if God is using the cancellations to give more freedom for us to invest in the redemption of the people of our community?'”

With these cancelations and interruptions, we challenge you to rethink your summer, not as something that will be merely pass by but as an opportunity to do something new.

We hope that at the end of the summer, people can look back and say, ‚ÄòThis is nothing like I had planned, but God moved in mighty ways through the ministries I was a part of,'” said Ross McGregor, Missions Director.

This summer, we pray each member of our Bellevue family will be intentional in engaging our city with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and enter Gospel-centered relationships with our neighbors. This is our hope, but you ultimately make the decision.

So we ask you, “How will you spend your summer?”
