Coffee Barista
CulinaryMajor Duties
Make and serve coffee and snacks and clean and maintain the Café area.
Specific Tasks
- Make and serve coffee and snacks.
- Greet customers with a pleasant attitude.
- Maintain products and equipment at the front counter.
- Keep the storage closet organized and clean.
- Break down empty boxes and take out the trash at the end of every day.
- Make change for customers.
- Count money at the end of the day and put it in the safe.
- Operate the Square POS for all cash and credit card sales.
- Clean the counter, floor, and equipment at the end of every day.
- Clean tables and chairs in the Café area throughout the day.
- Move tables and chairs when necessary (usually only on Sunday).
- Assist with new employee and volunteer training.

Supervisor’s Philosophy
Encourage and enable staff to have a positive work experience. Guidance and direction will be provided, but the employee is expected to take initiative, be self-confident and self-reliant, and be able to work independently.
Days and Hours
The employee will work an average of two to four days a week (less than 29 hours). Extra hours may be required during special events. The employee must be willing and able to adapt to changes in their weekly schedule as needed with short notice.

Safety and Ergonomic Issues
This position requires light lifting (up to 25 pounds), and burns are possible from handling hot beverages and equipment.
Work Environment
There will be some long, demanding, and stressful days. The employee will work closely with church members, other employees, and volunteers. It’s a pleasant and friendly Christian work environment.
Education Required
High School Diploma preferred
Specific Experience Required
One year of work experience in a face-to-face customer-service role is preferred.
Specific Skills Required
- Basic math (the ability to make change)
- iPad skills
- Customer service skills
- The ability to work independently
Physical Abilities
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee must stand for long hours on a regular basis and must regularly lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
