Operations (Housekeeping)Major Duties
Perform cleaning and housekeeping duties throughout the church.
Specific Tasks
Daily:
Perform routine cleanings in accordance with housekeeping standards, which include the following tasks:
- Emptying trash
- Dusting
- Cleaning walls and woodwork
- Vacuuming carpet and hallways (utilizing commercial handheld vacuum cleaners, wide area vacuum cleaners, and backpack vacuum cleaners)
- Cleaning chairs
- Straightening classrooms and large-group rooms
- Disinfecting nurseries
- Washing laundry
- Cleaning and disinfecting restrooms
- Cleaning mirrors and windows
- Mopping floors
Weekly:
- Attend formal training.
- Meet with the entire Housekeeping team to discuss upcoming events.
- Perform tasks such as polishing brass and cleaning air vents, baseboards, and hard-to-reach areas.
Monthly:
- Perform weekend rotational duties.
- Perform standby duties during worship services to handle emergency cleanups.
Special events:
- Perform cleanup and building turnaround during churchwide special events and conferences.
Days and hours
Hours and shifts may vary. Typical hours are 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Weekend or night-shift work will be required. Several times per year there is required overtime for special events (typically these events take place over a weekend period). There may be other overtime required as per the needs of the church and will be scheduled as far in advance as practical.
Safety and ergonomic issues
All Housekeeping employees use very mild to moderate chemicals. Safety equipment is mandated and provided for harsher chemicals. Housekeepers perform work on wet floors and slippery surfaces. They also use repetitive vacuuming and hand-cleaning motions for extensive periods of time.

This job takes place in a church and office setting.
Education required
High School Diploma or GED Diploma
Specific experience required
Previous housekeeping experience is preferred
Specific skills required
The employee must have good interpersonal skills as well as the ability to read written instructions in English.
Physical abilities
The position requires almost constant walking and vacuuming in an 850,000–square-foot facility. There is some lifting required (usually less than 50 pounds).
Working conditions
Working conditions are mostly indoors in a carpeted and temperature-controlled environment. The facility is well-lit. Rarely will the employee be required to handle outside windows and trash, and these outside tasks will be performed under a portico and with a provided jacket if needed.
