WRAP Ministry
Day 13
Shelby County has approximately 1,200 children in foster care, creating a need for hundreds of foster families. Statistics show that nearly 50% of foster parents stop fostering within the first year due to a lack of community support.
WRAP teams play a vital role in changing the experiences and outcomes for children and families in foster and kinship care. WRAP teams support foster and kinship families by having a group of 10–12 people “wrap around” the family through four main areas: words of encouragement, respite care (childcare), acts of service, and prayer.
These ways of tangibly and intangibly supporting families allows foster homes to stay open stronger and longer, minimizing further trauma to the children by creating safe, stable environments in which they can heal and grow.
- Pray for more families to choose fostering and for Bellevue members to volunteer on WRAP teams.
- Pray for Department of Children’s Services workers to have strength, compassion, and additional staff support.
