Memphis 365: Claiming Revival for Memphis in 2022

What are we going to do about it?

That was the question Bartholomew Orr, Pastor of Brown Missionary Baptist Church, asked a crowd of over 120 people gathered at the banks of the Mississippi River on Tuesday,
December 14. He shared about the problems our city is facing–the division, the crime, and the lostness.

What are we going to do about it? he said. We’re going to pray.

That’s what Memphis 365 is all about. With 40 churches across the city coming together, we are going to intentionally pray for revival in Memphis for the entire year of 2022.

We’re going to cover every hour of every day in prayer, said Bellevue Pastor Steve Gaines. If you wake up in the middle of the night, you can be assured that someone, somewhere is praying for Memphis.

How can we do this? We do it together. Each church partner will take a specific portion of time on the 2022 calendar, and its members will commit to cover those hours and minutes in prayer.

We cannot do this alone, Pastor Orr said. We must work together on practical solutions– We are thankful for churches crossing racial lines and denominational lines to cover our city in prayer throughout the year.”

Memphis has held its share of difficult accolades in recent years. From being named among the most sinful cities [i] to the most dangerous city [ii], it’s time to reclaim this city in the name of Jesus. We have never been more ripe for revival than now.

Pursuit of God Pastor Ricky Floyd asked, Do we want our city to be known as the most dangerous city? No. So we will pray. Today is a symbol that we love God and love each other enough to pray for change in our city.”

There are some things God is only going to do if we cry out to Him in prayer,Pastor Gaines said. Time spent in prayer is never wasted.”
