Tutorial Courses
Our classes meet once a week on Tuesdays or Thursdays for 32 weeks as part of our full-year classes. Bethany Henry
Bethany Henry is a veteran teacher of 27 years. After many years teaching in private schools and colleges, she has dedicated her time to the Memphis homeschool community over the last six years, teaching at Bellevue Tutorial. She has also been offering ACT prep classes for 15 years. Mrs. Henry has been married for 26 years and is mother to three young men. She earned her Bachelor of Science in English Education in 1994 and her Master of Education in 1996. She is an active member of Open Door Bible Church in midtown Memphis. Classes: Math Fundamentals, Consumer Math, Junior High English, English 9, English 10, English 11/12, American Literature, American Studies, and Geography
Bryan Edmiston
Bryan Edmiston retired in 2018 from Shelby County Schools, where he taught several high school subjects. He is now a financial representative with WoodmenLife, which is very relevant to teaching Personal Finance. Bryan grew up in Memphis and is very active at Faith Baptist Church in Bartlett, where he has taught several classes on being faithful with money as a Christian. He has a wife and four grown children, who were all homeschooled for some time. Class: Personal Finance
Dorann Simmons
Dorann Simmons is a homeschool mom of two sons, ages 17 and 19. She has now homeschooled for 14 years. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing at the University of Mississippi. After spending time in the business world, Dorann quickly realized she had a desire to work with young children and students. She earned her Master of Arts in Teaching at the University of Memphis (Memphis State). Dorann worked in public education for six years before being led to home education. She is excited to help students foster a love of learning, and she truly enjoys spending time with students. Classes: Math 6 and Elementary Skills Lab
Ellie Schulz
Ellie Schulz has been teaching for almost 20 years as a high school teacher, a college composition instructor, an English teacher for non-native speakers, and, most recently, a tutor of Psychology, Home Economics, and English at Bellevue Tutorial. She loves to work with students to help them write about the past, understand the present, and dream of the future. Her favorite thing about teaching is that she gets a front row seat to watch young people tell their stories with courage and passion for the work God has given them to do. She also loves the arts. She likes to play the piano, and she is interested in musical theater. She enjoys the visual arts, especially fashion and textile design, and she is learning to love to cook as she teaches Home Ec this year. Classes: English 5/6, Psychology, Middle School Home Economics, and High School Home Economics
Grace Nabholz
Grace Nabholz, a former Department of Defense Research Mathematician, is beginning her third year with Bellevue Tutorial. With her Master of Science in Applied Mathematics, Mrs. Nabholz incorporates real-world, applicable scenarios into each of her classes. Her time with the government included computer programming and big data analysis. She also taught at a premier private school in Mississippi before moving to Memphis. Mrs. Nabholz enjoys spending time with her husband and children. Ultimately, her goal is to glorify the Lord in every aspect of her life. Classes: Elementary STEM Lab, Computer Discovery, Computer Applications, and Physics
Heather Jones
Heather Jones loves art, literature, design, and just about any other creative endeavor. She has been tutoring Memphis-area homeschool students in Humanities, History, and English for the last 10 years, as well as administering a local tutorial for eight out of those 10 years. Thrilled to be a part of the tutor team at Bellevue Tutorial, she is now solely focused on introducing 8th-grade through 12th-grade students to some of her favorite classic literature and helping students hone their skills in creative and academic writing. Classes: English 8, British Literature, Composition and American Literature, and Composition and World Literature
Jeff Snow
Jeff Snow has been teaching U.S. History, World History, and U.S. Government/Economics for the past 25 years. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Pensacola Christian College and his Master of Arts from the University of West Florida. Jeff teaches a teen Bible class on Wednesday nights and an adult Bible class on Sunday mornings at his church. When he’s not in the classroom, Jeff enjoys life on his farm in Brownsville. He is presently working on a “God in World History” radio program that will be aired in Uganda and Rwanda. Classes: Government/Economics, U.S. History, and World History
Jenny Clayton
Jenny Clayton is a graduate of Blue Mountain College, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1999. She later received a Master of Education from the University of Mississippi in 2002. Jenny taught for seven years in the public school system before beginning her homeschool adventure, which includes tutoring and directing a classical homeschool community for 10 years. She loves gazing at mountains, camping, hiking, exploring, and Jeep-riding with her husband and two teenaged sons. She is excited to be a part of the Bellevue Tutorial tutor team for a third year.
John Eubank
John Eubank has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Memphis and a Master of Divinity from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary. He has taught multiple homeschool math classes for junior and senior high students for 10 years. Mr. Eubank has also taught Bible and history classes to high school students in the homeschool setting. In addition to being a homeschool dad of three, Mr. Eubank is pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church in Bartlett. Classes: Bible, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II Honors, and Pre-Calculus
Julie Anderson-Malanga
Julie Anderson-Malanga joined the Bellevue Tutorial team in 2021. She has taught Continuing Education classes for multiple universities, most recently for the Memphis College of Art. She has teaching experience in a variety of settings, including public schools, homeschool groups, and outreach services for youth. Additionally, she has conducted multiple workshops and private lessons. Julie has received her Bachelor of Fine Arts and her Master of Arts in Art Education. Classes: Art 5/6, Middle School Art, and High School Art
Julie Lewis
Julie Lewis is a graduate of the University of Memphis, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. She has worked in research, chemical engineering, and teaching over the course of the past 20 years. She loves sharing her love of science with her students through varied experiments and lab activities. The 2022–2023 school year is her fifth year of teaching at Bellevue Tutorial. Class: Chemistry
Kellye Albritton
Kellye Albritton has been teaching for the past 32 years. Whether she is in a classroom setting or homeschooling her own children, she has always had a passion for education. Kellye strives to create a comfortable learning environment for every student and uses a combination of interactive labs and hands-on activities to aid student understanding. This is Kellye’s first year at Bellevue Tutorial, and we are so excited for her to join our team! Classes: Physical Science, Biology, and Chemistry
Kimberly Benson
Kim Benson graduated from the University of Memphis with a degree in Spanish. After graduation, she did some grant work with Latino Memphis as a Spanish interpreter at a health department clinic. She has taught Spanish to homeschoolers over the years and volunteered at Su Casa Ministries. She also enjoys practicing her Spanish on mission trips when she has the opportunity. Classes: Spanish I, Spanish II, and Spanish II Honors
Kylie Wilson
Kylie Wilson began teaching with Bellevue Tutorial four years ago. She graduated from the University of Memphis with a degree in English. She travels to new places every chance she gets and especially enjoys quirky side trips. She loves inspiring students to use their writing skills to capture the world with words. Classes: Basic Composition, Intro to Composition, Intermediate Composition, and Advanced Composition
Lari Boswell
Lari Boswell is Bellevue Tutorial’s resident Japanese expert! After studying Japanese in college, she moved to Japan for three years. Upon returning to the United States, she worked closely with the Japanese staff at Sharp Corporation. Along with translating documents and interpreting during meetings, she helped the children of new arrivals learn English as they transitioned to American schools. A homeschool mom for the past 15 years, Lari is excited to be a part of the Bellevue Tutorial community. Classes: Japanese I and Japanese II
Leigh Ann Quick
Leigh Ann Quick has a Bachelor of Science in Education from Memphis State University (the University of Memphis) with endorsements to teach math, computer programming, and business. She has taught every level of math from sixth grade to calculus, as well as accounting and programming in both private school and homeschool settings. With more than 25 years of teaching experience, this is her seventeenth year teaching homeschool students. Classes: Algebra I MUS, Algebra II MUS, and Geometry
Lisa Curry
After 17 years of homeschooling her own children, Lisa Curry has such a heart for this educational gift that she wanted to continue to be involved by helping others. This is her fourth year tutoring at Bellevue Tutorial, where she loves to see her students grow. Mrs. Lisa has been working in health care as a respiratory therapist for more than 35 years and tries to bring her medical background into the classroom whenever she can. She is also a certified CPR instructor and teaches CPR in two of her classes. When not in class or at the hospital, she enjoys a few hobbies but mostly enjoys spending time with her husband, their growing family, and their dog, Rusty. Classes: Health and Nutrition, Health Occupations, and Life Science
Megan Marcellini
Megan Marcellini has been a theatre educator for 20 years, having earned her master’s degree from Northern Michigan University and her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance from the University of Memphis. She has worked with multiple Mid-South performing arts organizations, including Singleton Community Center, Playhouse on the Square, Theatre Memphis, John Robert Powers, Germantown Arts Alliance, Germantown Community Theatre, and the Crittenden Arts Council. She loves training and inspiring future performing artists and has a special heart for children’s theatre. Class: Introduction to Theatre
Nicole Humphrey
Nicole Humphrey has a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Maryland. She has been married for 21 years, has five children, and is in her fifteenth year of homeschooling. Over the last 15 years, she has had the opportunity to live and homeschool on three different continents. Traveling has given her a great love for the people and cultures of other nations, which she hopes to impart to her students. She and her family live in Bartlett and attend New Hope Christian Church, where she is part of the women’s discipleship ministry. Classes: Humanities I, Humanities II, Humanities III, and Humanities IV
Sarah Smith
Sarah Smith is a native Memphian who has been teaching high school students since the 2014–2015 school year. She is a graduate from Christian Brothers University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Natural Science with a concentration in education. Her sincerest hope is to inspire students to find out what they love and help them reach their goals for the future! Classes: Anatomy and Physiology, Forensic Science, and Biology
Shelby Chaille
Shelby Chaille has been teaching elementary science for the past three years. Prior to joining the Bellevue Tutorial team, she offered private tutoring sessions for high school science and homeschooled her two elementary-aged children. Shelby has a passion for working with students and making learning fun. In addition to teaching, Shelby enjoys traveling, running, and spending time with her family. Classes: Science 5/6 Chemistry and Physics, Science 5/6 Anatomy and Physiology, and Earth and Space Science
