Transitions of power tell a story. When an elderly pastor passes off the lead pastor role to a younger pastor who he’s discipled for years, it speaks well of the older pastor’s faithfulness and preparation.

The Bible is a single, unified story. It can be easy to forget this since the Bible is made up of 66 books, 1,189 chapters, and 783,137 verses. These divisions, which are helpful reference points, can accidentally trick us into seeing the Bible as a collection of loosely related stories.

Conviction comes through the Holy Spirit because there are many people do not see what is right on their own. They don’t see their sin, unrighteousness, or need for judgment.

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus explained the standard for righteousness. To be considered ‚Äònot guilty’ one must not only not commit murder; they must not be angry with others. One must not only not commit adultery; they must not lust in their heart. By that standard, and in considering the other commandments of the Bible, everyone has sinned, and everyone is guilty. Therefore, no innocent person has ever gone to Hell. Only the guilty go to Hell.

Salvation is the glorious work of God created to redeem His creation. It is the gift we receive that brings us into a right relationship with God. At times, in the midst of the Good News, I have found myself doubting my salvation, wondering if I am really saved. Have you ever felt like that? Have you ever doubted your salvation?
