God’s Mission

They don’t need me. This is one of the most blatant, yet common, lies the enemy whispers to church members regarding their role in the church. It can be easy to just go with the flow–always attending but never taking initiative to truly discover why God brought you here and what He wants to do through you while you’re a part of this church.

You may not live in Memphis forever. You may not attend Bellevue forever. But God has you here now, and He has you here for a reason.

So, what do you plan to do with that time?

For some, their time here may look like surrendering their life to Jesus Christ for the first time. For others, it may look like serving with middle school or high school students, at a Bellevue Loves Memphis Workday, or as a weekly greeter before worship services. For each of us, God has us here right now, so we will deepen our relationship with the Lord, build community, learn biblical truth, and fulfill the Great Commission.

God created the Church to serve Jesus and reach the lost–and that starts in each one of us, personally.

A common phrase you’ll see and hear at Bellevue is, It starts in me. This serves as a constant reminder that it’s up to each one of us to carry the Mission forward–to take initiative in being obedient to what God has called us to do. Because the Spirit of God lives in me, it is up to me to actively Love God, Love People, Share Jesus, and Make Disciples. None of these things happen by accident. We cannot passively live our lives and expect to simultaneously grow our Love for God and People; we cannot passively Share Jesus or Make Disciples–no, those are actions and thus take intentional effort.

Together, we are the Body of Christ, but we are also individuals God has intentionally placed in this particular church body–But now God has placed the members, each one of them, in the body, just as He desired ( 1 Corinthians 12:18). We know God has placed you here for a reason, and we want to encourage and equip you in taking your next step.

God is using Bellevue to be a catalyst for spiritual awakening in Memphis and beyond. It starts in me–and it starts in you.
