About

Students interested in producing music, recording themselves or others, creating loops or soundtracks, or using a digital audio workstation (DAW) such as GarageBand, Logic Pro, or Pro Tools will benefit from private production lessons. Whether you know something about production or nothing at all, we can take you where you are and move you forward. Instruction will be tailored to the student’s interests and goals, but in all cases we will help students understand the building blocks of music production while allowing them to unleash their creativity in a positive and encouraging way.

Teachers

Julian Henderson
Julian is a native Memphian who has been playing drums since he was 3 years old. He grew up in Bellevue’s School of Performing Arts and has participated in and led our Trash Can Ensemble in performances around the city. He was homeschooled and then earned a degree in music education in 2014 from Wheaton College, located in the suburbs of Chicago. While at Wheaton, Julian gained experience playing various musical styles in many venues around Chicago and the surrounding areas, as well as gaining experience in the use of a wide variety of percussion instruments. His primary instruments are drum set and mallets. Since graduating college, Julian has returned to Memphis to share with students and fellow musicians the knowledge and experience he gained and, even more importantly, his passion for the percussive arts. He has taught in schools, worked with the Memphis Music Initiative, and currently plays at Bellevue and various gigs around the city. Julian’s educational philosophy is to not only train the hands and feet but also to engage the brain, heart, soul, and mind.
