Our classes meet once a week on Tuesdays or Thursdays for 32 weeks as part of our full-year classes. Our qualified tutors provide 1.5 hours of instruction each week and send students home with instructions for work to be completed until the next class meeting. Bethany Henry
Bethany is a veteran teacher of 29 years. After many years teaching in private schools and colleges, she has dedicated her time to the Memphis homeschool community over the last eight years by teaching at Bellevue Tutorial. She has also been offering ACT prep classes for 18 years. Bethany has been married for 28 years and is mother to three young men. She earned her Bachelor of Science in English education in 1994 and her Master of Education in 1996. She is an active member of Open Door Bible Church in Midtown Memphis. Bryan Edmiston
Bryan Edmiston retired in 2018 from Shelby County Schools, where he taught several high school subjects, including psychology. He is now a financial representative with Legacy Financial, which is relevant to teaching personal finance. Bryan grew up in Memphis and is very active at Faith Baptist Church in Bartlett, where he has taught several classes on being faithful with money as a Christian. He has a wife and four grown children who were all homeschooled for some time. Classes: Personal Finance, Psychology
Dorann Simmons
Dorann earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing at the University of Mississippi. After spending some time in the business world, Dorann quickly realized she had a desire to work with young children and students. She earned her Master of Arts in teaching at the University of Memphis (formerly Memphis State University). Dorann worked in public education for six years before being led to home education for her sons. The homeschooling adventure recently concluded, and now both of Dorann’s boys are in college. From the beginning of the homeschool journey to the present day, Dorann has volunteered with and taught young children and students. She is excited to help students foster a love of learning, and she truly enjoys spending time with them. Class: Math 6
Heather Jones
Heather loves art, literature, design, and just about any other creative endeavor. She has been tutoring Memphis-area homeschool students in humanities, history, and English for the last 18 years in co-ops and tutorials, including administering a local tutorial for eight years. Thrilled to be part of the tutor team at Bellevue Tutorial, she is now solely focused on introducing classic literature and composition to 10th–12th grade students. Her goal is to nurture students’ natural creativity and critical thinking skills with writing and presentation activities that highlight the literature introduced in class. Jeff Snow
Jeff has been teaching U.S. history, world history, and U.S. government/economics for the past 25 years. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Pensacola Christian College and his Master of Arts from the University of West Florida. Jeff teaches a teen Bible class on Wednesday nights and an adult Bible class on Sunday mornings at his church. When he’s not in the classroom, Jeff enjoys life on his farm in Brownsville. He is presently working on a God in World History radio program that will be aired in Uganda and Rwanda. Classes: Government/Economics, U.S. History, World History
Jenny Clayton
Jenny is a graduate of Blue Mountain College (now Blue Mountain Christian University), where she received a Bachelor of Science in education in 1999. She later received a Master of Education from the University of Mississippi in 2002. Jenny taught for seven years in the public school system before beginning her homeschool adventure, which included tutoring and directing a classical homeschool community for 10 years. She loves gazing at mountains, camping, hiking, exploring, and Jeep-riding with her husband and two teenage sons. She is excited to be a part of the Bellevue Tutorial team for a fourth year.
John Eubank
John has a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Memphis and a Master of Divinity from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary. He has taught multiple homeschool math classes for junior high and senior high students for more than 10 years. John has also taught Bible and history classes to high school students in the homeschool setting. In addition to being a homeschool dad of three, John is pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church in Bartlett. Julie Anderson-Malanga
Julie joined the Bellevue Tutorial team in 2021. She has taught continuing education classes for multiple universities, most recently for the Memphis College of Art. She has teaching experience in a variety of settings, including public schools, homeschool groups, and outreach services for youth. Additionally, she has conducted multiple workshops and private lessons. Julie has a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Arts in art education. Classes: Art 5/6, Middle School Art, High School Intro to Art, High School Advanced Art
Julie Lewis
Julie is a graduate of the University of Memphis, where she received her Bachelor of Science in chemistry. She has worked in research, chemical engineering, and teaching over the past 25 years. She loves sharing her love of science with her students through varied experiments and lab activities. Julie also serves as coordinator for Bellevue Tutorial. The 2024–2025 school year is her seventh year teaching here. Class: Chemistry
Kellye Albritton
Kellye has been teaching for the past 32 years. Whether she is in a classroom setting or homeschooling her own children, she has always had a passion for education. Kellye strives to create a comfortable learning environment for every student and uses a combination of interactive labs and hands-on activities to aid student understanding. Classes: Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry
Kimberly Benson
Kim graduated from the University of Memphis with a degree in Spanish. After graduation, she did some grant work with Latino Memphis as a Spanish interpreter at a health department clinic. She has taught Spanish to homeschoolers over the years and volunteered at Su Casa Family Ministries. She also enjoys practicing her Spanish on mission trips when she has the opportunity. Kylie Wilson
Kylie began teaching with Bellevue Tutorial four years ago. She graduated from the University of Memphis with a degree in English. She travels to new places every chance she gets and especially enjoys quirky side trips. She loves inspiring students to use their writing skills to capture the world with words. Classes: Basic Composition, Middle School Composition, High School Composition, Math 5
Lari Boswell
Lari is Bellevue Tutorial’s resident Japanese expert. After studying Japanese in college, she moved to Japan for three years. Upon returning to the United States, she worked closely with the Japanese staff members at Sharp Corporation. Along with translating documents and interpreting during meetings, she helped the children of new arrivals learn English as they transitioned to American schools. A homeschool mom for the past 15 years, Lari is excited to be a part of the Bellevue Tutorial community. Classes: Japanese I, Japanese II
Leigh Ann Quick
Leigh Ann has a Bachelor of Science in education from Memphis State University (now the University of Memphis) with endorsements to teach math, computer programming, and business. She has taught every level of math from 6th grade to calculus, as well as accounting and programming in both private-school and homeschool settings. With more than 25 years of teaching experience, this is her 20th year teaching homeschool students. Classes: Algebra I Math-U-See, Algebra II Math-U-See, Geometry Math-U-See
Lisa Curry
After 17 years of homeschooling her own children, Lisa had such a heart for the gift of education that she wanted to continue teaching. This is her fifth year tutoring at Bellevue Tutorial, where she loves to see her students grow. After graduating with an associate degree in respiratory therapy from Christian Brothers College (now Christian Brothers University), Lisa continued her education at the University of Memphis, earning her Bachelor of Business Administration. She has been working in health care as a respiratory therapist for more than 37 years and tries to bring her medical background into the classroom whenever she can. She is also a certified CPR instructor and teaches CPR in her class. When she is not working, she likes to spend time with her family, play with her grandbaby, exercise, and be outdoors. Nicole Humphrey
Nicole has a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Maryland. She has been married for 21 years, has five children, and is in her 15th year of homeschooling. Over the last 15 years, she has had the opportunity to live and homeschool on three different continents. Traveling has given her a great love for the people and cultures of other nations, which she hopes to impart to her students. She and her family live in Bartlett and attend New Hope Christian Church, where she is part of the women’s discipleship ministry. Classes: Humanities I, Humanities II, Humanities III, Humanities IV
Sarah Smith
Sarah is a native Memphian who has been teaching high school students since the 2014–2015 school year. She is a graduate from Christian Brothers University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in natural science with a concentration in education. Her sincerest hope is to inspire students to find out what they love and help them reach their goals for the future. Classes: Anatomy and Physiology, Forensic Science, Biology
Amanda Desmarais
Amanda is a longtime homeschool parent and teacher. She has homeschooled for the past 13 years and taught in homeschool communities since 2013. She loves to learn and teach, and she especially enjoys meeting each student where they are and helping them grow in their gifts. She has a bachelor’s degree in French from Rhodes College, where she was able to complete a study abroad program in Paris. That trip holds a special place in her heart because it is where she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She also has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Union University. Before leaving the workforce to homeschool full time, she worked as a nurse at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Classes: French 1, French 2
Angie Smith
Angie grew up in a farming community in southern Arkansas and still loves to go visit her parents’ farm there. She and her husband, Bryan, have been married for 23 years and have six children who range in age from 10 to 20 and who have all been homeschooled. Angie has a degree in education from the University of Arkansas at Monticello. She always knew she wanted to teach in some way, and being a tutor with Bellevue Tutorial has helped her fulfill that desire. She especially loves that she gets to tutor in science classes. She is a believer in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and she believes science lends itself to the majestic glory of God and His Gospel. She says it is a worshipful subject, and she loves being able to worship the Lord alongside her students as they learn how wonderfully created people are and how gloriously the world points to a divine Creator. Charlie Moore
Charlie has been married to Steve for 25 years. Steve started his business in 2000, and Charlie left the corporate world to join him in 2008, a few years after their first child came along. They now have three fantastic children who began homeschooling in 2014, and the oldest recently graduated. Charlie loves her homeschool and church communities. She is thankful for the opportunity to serve those communities as the graduation coordinator for Memphis-Area Home Education Association and a Life Group teacher on Sundays. Charlie loves being part of Bellevue Tutorial. Her favorite verse right now is Ephesians 4:32 ESV: “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” Classes: Math Fundamentals, Computer Discovery, Computer Applications, Physics
Cheryle Roland
Cheryle graduated from the University of Memphis with a degree in early childhood education in 1997. She has worked in a variety of educational settings over the last 26 years. Her experience includes teaching kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade in a public-school setting. Additionally, she served as a literacy leader and an instructional facilitator. After having children, she founded and directed the Mother’s Day Out program at Warren Community Church, where she currently serves as the children’s ministry director. Cheryle also tutors students in reading and language arts at all age levels. She has been homeschooling for seven years, and she has a love for God, children, teaching, and books. Working with homeschool students and share her passions with them is a true joy for her. She loves working with middle and high school students. When Cheryle is not serving at church or teaching, she enjoys spending time with her husband of 28 years and their three children. Mitzi Keating
Mitzi graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in elementary education and a conversion endorsement in physical education and recreation. She began her teaching career with Memphis City Schools (now Shelby County School District). From there she went on to work for Memphis Public Libraries, then a local church. For the last 24 years, she has dedicated herself to her husband and their three boys. She has spent the last 15 years homeschooling her sons—one has now graduated, and the other two will graduate in 2025. Mitzi joined Bellevue Tutorial as the study hall monitor in 2021, and she began teaching home economics in 2022. Shannon Jarvis
Shannon has been teaching for almost 25 years. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in education (for grades 1–8) from the University of Memphis, and she obtained a Master of Education from Union University. Shannon taught for 15 years in the public school system and then worked for her district, providing professional development for schools while mentoring and evaluating teachers. For the last 10 years, she has been homeschooling. She loves camping, thrifting, traveling, and being outside with her husband and children. Shannon and her family are members of Grace Church Memphis. She is excited to be part of the Bellevue Tutorial tutor team again. Tracy Thomas
Tracy is a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in education in 1999. She taught in the public school system for two years before becoming a stay-at-home mom to her six children. Tracy has homeschooled for 17 years and has taught at Bellevue Tutorial for the last two years. She enjoys traveling with her family and watching her children play basketball. Classes: Math 5, STEM Lab, Science 5/6 Chemistry and Physics
Macy Cross
Macy is a graduate of Mississippi College where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She was a pediatric oncology nurse for 12 years before becoming a stay-at-home mom. She has been married to her husband for 20 years and they have 6 children. She has been homeschooling for 10 years, and she has 10 more years to go! Her children have been part of the Bellevue Tutorial for 3 years and she has served as a teacher assistant with the lower elementary GO Program. She volunteers in the Children's and Next Gen Ministries at her church as she hopes to encourage and minister to students. In her free time, she enjoys baking and planning trips. Most of all she loves to be with her family in the busyness of life; from sporting events to vacations, to just being around the kitchen table, she savors it all. Class: Life Science
Becky Doyle
Becky graduated from Ball State University in Indiana with a Bachelor of Science in Education. With her degree, she proceeded to teach in the public-school setting in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Jersey. After settling down in Collierville, with her husband and 4 children, she entered the awesome world of homeschool tutorials in 2012 and has never looked back. She is a passionate, hands-on tutor who cares deeply for her students and their families. She is both eager and excited to begin her ventures with the Bellevue Tutorial team. Jetta Seboly
Jetta graduated from Mississippi State University with a B.S. in Physics/Chemistry Education. She has taught high school math and science locally in public and private schools, homeschool groups, and in an online setting for 21 years. Jetta and her husband Brian have three children, and they have been homeschooling for 22 years. Jetta is a member of Millington First Baptist Church, and her hobbies include flowers, trees, birds, books, chess, and being a crazy soccer mom! Class: Biology
