What Our Families are Saying

We have two girls who have been students at the School of Performing Arts for several years. From the very beginning the teachers have been professional, talented, organized, encouraging and very exceptional in their fields of study. We are so very blessed to have such awesome teachers pouring into our kids! Our girls admire and respect their teachers and it is so exciting to see them excel in what they love!”

– Tammy Martin

We absolutely LOVE the Bellevue School of Performing Arts!!  The teachers are amazing professionals – in everything they do, they model their love of music, and most importantly, their love for the Lord!!   Their encouragement has been a HUGE part of my violin player realizing the gift she’s been given and helping her use that gift to glorify the Giver of the gift!  SPA is MINISTRY EXCELLENCE in motion – everything they do – from ensembles to group to individual lessons – is done with a specific focus: Glorifying the Lord with their musical talents and using those gifts to serve others!

– Jessica Pyburn

We have had an excellent year of voice lessons through Bellevue’s SPA. Our son’s teacher, Sean Pan, paid great attention to the voice changes that occur with a thirteen year old boy and helped make it a smooth transition. We love his encouraging teaching style and his vast knowledge. It has been a great fit and a year of real growth. We look forward to continuing next semester.

Meet our Director

The School of Performing Arts is directed by Rev. Andrew Smith. Andrew holds a bachelor of music in music theory from Union University and a Master of Music in choral conducting from Austin Peay State University.

Before working at Bellevue Andrew taught music at two different high schools where he taught choir, music appreciation, AP music theory, and contemporary band classes. Andrew and his family have been members of Bellevue since 2012. Over the years Andrew has been involved with SPA from all sides – as a student (taking guitar lessons), as an employee (teaching voice lessons), and as a parent (with two kids in the violin studio). In 2018 Andrew left his career in education to become the associate minister of music and the SPA director at Bellevue Baptist Church. In October of that year he was ordained as a minister of the gospel.

It is Andrew’s passion to raise up musicians that play and sing for God’s glory, to equip them for service in the church, and to prepare them to be champions for Christ out in the world. He has a wife, Calli, and four children, Caleb, Ruby, Abi Claire, and Evelyn.
